NCS is a youth engagement organisation which is designed for young people to gain new skills, build confidence, have fun as well as give back to their local community. The three phases of NCS are Adventure , Skills and Social Action. The first week of the programme is residential and the participants spend the week taking part in activities such as kayaking, rock climbing, coasteering, paintballing and quad-biking. The second week is also residential and is focused around expanding the skill sets of young people. They will spend the week living at Bournemouth University Halls of Residence and are expected to work as a team to budget, food shop and cook for each other. They take part in variety of workshops including first aid, politics as well as team building activities which are run by Bournemouth University. Weeks 3 and 4 are non-residential. In Week 3 we run workshops designed for young people to start to gain a greater awareness of issues facing their local community .This is all in preparation for them delivering their Social Action Project with a local charity partner in Week 4.
