A school trip
In June 2016, a group of students from Bourne Academy went to the Dolomites mountain range in Italy. There were a mixture of ages from year 9 & 10 and we stayed in Pozza Di Fazza, right in the heart of the Dolomites.
Day 1 We set off from the school at 2 am on the 1st of June to take the trip to Gatwick where we boarded a plane set for Marco Polo International Airport in Venice. We then rented 3 cars from the airport and took a three and a half hour drive to the campsite in the heart of the Dolomites. Just after we left Venice, we had a stop and went straight to Maccy’s for some lovely fast food. We were staving by this time so it was appreciated! When we finally arrived at Camping Vidor, we put our tents up and went to a local restaurant for a spectacular meal. This ended our first day in Italy.
Day 2 In the early hours of the morning we had an introduction to Via Ferrata and peaked our first mountain. The views from the top were amazing and I got to travel to a beautiful forrest before walking to the cable car and cable caring down. Our group then took the cars and drove back to the campsite via the nearest town to buy supplies for the evening meals. We took it in turns to cook dinner for the group so it become know that we were the Dolomites family as we ate as a little family. Afterwards we had a friendly competition of pool and went to bed. Day 3 and 4 went in the same structure as day 2 although we went up a different mountain. The views were just as incredible!
Day 5 The group went to La Sportvia climbing centre and climbed indoor rock climbing walls and did some bouldering downstairs. We used the facilities to there fullest extent and spent most of the day there before going out to a local pizzeria for a friends birthday meal. We had a true Italian pizza and a Calzone before heading back to the campsite for a movie and games night. It was a relaxed and chill night as we were heading home in the morning!
Day 6 It was a sad day as it was the day we left Italy and went back Gatwick Airport. I had a great time with my Dolomites family and went home to my real family it was sad because the people I spent the last 6 days with was over.
