Town Hall Youth Debate 2017

More than 50 secondary school pupils from across Bournemouth took part in this year’s Youth Parliamentary debate as part of Parliament Week (13-19 November 2017).

The annual event, hosted in Bournemouth Council’s Town Hall Chamber, saw the Mayor of Bournemouth, Councillor Lawrence Williams opening the debate at 12:30pm on Friday 17 November.

During the afternoon, the young people debated two topics which they said mattered most to them. Over 1,300 young people across Bournemouth participated in a vote with ‘A Curriculum to Prepare us for Life’ and ‘Protect LGBT+ People’ receiving the most votes.

Following the event, the issue of ‘A Curriculum to Prepare us for Life’ which young people in Bournemouth decided the most important will be taken forward and worked on by Bournemouth Youth Committee in 2018.
